Overview

One of the main drivers of the ICT solutions is their impact on clinical care and care giving. Understanding of the clinical effectiveness and their potential will drive the research, deployment and implementation of ITC solutions. This clinical requirements workpackage (WP5) is devoted to surveying, sharing, and reporting on the clinical and ethnographic requirements that will define the ICT solutions in the US, Japan, and the EU.

Specific Objectives

This workpackage has two distinct objectives related to the clinical requirements for ICT solutions to aging:

  1. Development of a taxonomy of clinical problems associated with aging, including sensory-motor, cognitive and social issues.
  2. Identification of clinical assessment approaches and instruments
    • Compilation of existing clinical data sets and guidelines for assessing change in diseases and syndromes of aging of particular relevance to aging in place
    • Identification of additional clinical assessment approaches and instruments of particular relevance to interpreting continuous data gathering via home and mobile monitoring technologies
    • Identification of potential health impact of existing and emerging technology-based solutions
    • Identification of requirements for sharing clinical data standards
