Docobo COPD Trial
From Capsil Wiki
Objectives: - The purpose of this 9 month study was to evaluate remote home based patient monitoring for patients suffering from COPD.
Details: - Thirty eight patients were prescreened (medically and motivationally) and chosen to take part in this study. They were supplied with Docobo's doc@HOME [1] telemonitoring suite and given training on its useage. Data was uploaded to a central server at night via a standard telephone connection. Clinicans viewed the data on standard PCs and gave back messages and advice to the patients via the central server. Face to face consultations were carried out if warranted by the data. Telephone support was also available to the patients if needed.
Results: - The Docobo study reported the following results:
- Symptoms declined by 12.6%
- Hospital demand decreased by 6.2%
- 67% of patients said the system was 'not difficult to use' while 33% thought it 'was difficult to use'
- 90% reported that they would use the system in the future if further 'services' were offered.
