Lothian Trials

Objectives - This large scale programme will start with 200 COPD patients and will later include those with other chronic conditions including cardiac diseases and diabetes across Edinburgh and the Lothian regions. A number of patients included in the programme will be enrolled in a randomised control trial being conducted by the University of Edinburgh.
Details - The trial involves using Intel's HealthGuide product with COPD suffering patients. Patients will answer a series of questions via the Intel Health Guide each day that will asess their condition. Intervention can then be introduced if needed before the condition 'flares up' and requires hospitalisation.
Results- Due in 2010.
