  • Objectives - The stated objectives of the MyHEalth@Age project are "to offer the ageing population in the Northern Periphery urban and rural areas improved health, safety and well being through the use of new services and new mobile ICT (Information and Communication Technology) products. MyHealth@Age aims to provide products for the elderly people that will empower them to do more for themselves and become a fully active participant in healthcare and medical treatment programs in co-operation with healthcare and welfare organizations. Further, the project also aims to provide administrative services that makes it easier to interact with the elderly people to manage appointments, to transfer instructions, get structured feedback regarding medication, health progress etc". There is a strong emphasis on commercialisation of the results and Participative Design [1] and Research.
  • Details - The MyHealth@Age project has identified three areas that they are focusing on; These are;
    • Mobile Safety Alarms - To enable fast location and support for people in need.
    • Medical Self Management - Use of mobile devices to actively participate in managing ones own health with the help of medical personnel. Includes healthy living, medication management and condition monitoring.
    • Social Networks - Use of mobile devices to allow high levels of social interaction.

Full details of the actual devices being developed are not available at the moment (Sept 2009) however they have stressed that design of devices and services will be very Participatory and will bring in input from older persons from the beginning. Design will be iterative and participation including trials will begin very early on in the project cycle.

  • Trials - The MyHealth@Age project plans to evaluate equipment, products and services simultaneously in Northern Ireland, Norway and Sweden by elderly people and health organisation staff. The relatively long time period of the trials will make it possible to make improvements based on early feedback to enhance the value even further.

Further details of progress and results will be published at this link as they are completed [2].
