Objectives - OASIS targets to utilise ICT and other key technologies in order to provide holistic services to older people to support their physical and psychological independence, stimulate their social or psychological engagement and foster their emotional well being. In doing so, OASIS hopes to address key areas of their activities encompassing: independent living and socialising, autonomous mobility, and flexible work-ability. According to their web site..."It intends to use Open and Innovative reference architecture based upon ontologies and semantic services that will allow plug and play and cost effective interconnection of existing and new services in all domains."

The OASIS Project Target Domains

Details - The OASIS Consortium is composed of 33 Partners from 11 countries including Large Industry, SMEs, Universities, Research Centers, Non-Profit Organizations, Public Organizations and Healthcare Centers. The target group for the OASIS project is largely the 'borderline' people who are active and well but experience mild cognitive decline issues and may be uncomfortable with technology and ICT concepts. They have defined three groups including;
- The 'Young Elderly' aged 55-65,
- The 'Elderly' aged 65-75
- The 'Old Elderly' aged 75+.

Target Domains - They have identified 4 main areas to target including;
- Independent Living and Socialisation - Including nutritional advisor, fitness coaching and health monitoring.
- Mobility Applications - Assistive technologies to aid transportation (routes, guidance etc).
- Smart Workplaces - Including multimodal means of dialogue mitigation and other work aids.

Trials - The developed applications will be tested in;

The OASIS Project Pilot Plans
- UK
- Germany
- Italy
- Greece/Romania/Bulgaria (combined site)

The trials will involve hundreds of users and caregivers.
