Power and Battery Optimisation
From Capsil Wiki
Power and battery performance is one of the ‘Achilles Heels’ of wireless sensors. Standard batteries (AA and AAA types) have been used however new methods of power delivery are being looked at and there many research challenges here. Some of the areas that are being investigated at present are listed below with their research challenges.
The future of wireless sensor power techniques are shown here. Shown here is the UCLA solar powered ‘Heliomote’ [1]. Also shown is the Toshiba Methanol Fuel Cell [2] which was released in 2003 and can achieve over 5 hours continuous operation.
