Why "Research" section is empty and AAL link and SNS report page have been classified as commercial solutions?
This page probably needs more info on research in social interaction, which is actually an active area of research using vision and pervasive sensors. Although elderly interaction is different from interaction in sports and meetings, many techniques can be common. Suggested links are: Video surveillance of interactions On human interactions in meetings

Social Connectedness and Wearable Body Sensor Networks
The area of Social Connectedness is concerned mainly with the social inclusion of people. It is well known that social exclusion particularly as people age, over time can be a source of psychological depression. Depression can lead lack of motivation and forgetfulness, which in turn can lead to non-adherence to medication schedules and dehydration which in turn can lead to incidents such as hip breaks (dizziness) and acute hospitalisations. This is the very essence of 'proactive health' i.e. preventing the incident at the early stages and not allowing the condition to progress. Areas where body sensor networks can play a part include physiological monitoring (see section on Design Aspects of Body Sensor Networks) where for example if inactivity over a period of time is detected, an alert can be sent to a caregiver/friend. Other application areas where communities can gather say for example Diabetes Support Groups, where body worn sensors can input data to the system where the group in effect acts as the caregiver. The form factors of body sensor networks here will be just the same as previously discusses and may involve worn devices/garments which inputthe data to the system in real time. For applications (such as social gropu involvement) where people find it difficult to use standard computer/laptop/PDA/mobile devices, input mechanisms such as the CyberGlove [1] can be used.
