The Timed Up and Go Test is an indicator of basic mobility and measures the time required for a person to rise from a chair, walk three metres, turn, walk back and sit down. Various trials have been conducted using the test with encouraging results. However questions remain over the accuracy of the test. Use of the test may also be limited in very frail elderly subjects due to floor effects.
